Selected sound excerpts:
"Synopera" Synopera was composed for an installation I did with collaborator Carolyn Healy. It was exhibited in September of 2000 at Larry Becker Contemporary Art in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It ran concurrently with the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. The piece was composed entirely from audio samples I recorded, in Beijing during October of 1999, of a Peking Opera performance. It is meant as a token of our fond rememberances of the Chinese people.

"War of Nerves" I used a Buchla Lightning as my primary MIDI controller in this piece. The sounds/samples and Lightning "presets" were originally created for a live performance in March of 1996 (CrossWaves Festival, Phila., Pa.) which involved an ultralight model airplane and a performer. "Elegy" A tribute to a friend no longer with us. JS's life was full of accomplishment and confusion. I wanted to make something which, in some small way, expressed his spirit. The materials used to create "Elegy" were drawn from location recordings and sound snippets (all digitally manipulated) as well as purely synthesized sounds.

"The things one has to listen to...' "The things.." is a piece commissioned by New American Radio - a nationally syndicated program which offers air time to people outside the "radio world." I started the piece by dividing the allotted 10 minutes by the number of pages in Samuel Beckett's novel The Unnamable. Then I created a score by noting each sound mentioned by Beckett and placing it on the timeline. This "sound reading" was created using various samplers, effect devices and synthesizers.

"Altitudes" This piece is a series of location recordings made at each 1000 foot altitude starting in Yankee Boy Basin (13,800 ft) in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and descending through western Colorado into Kansas- ending at the Delaware River in Philadelphia, which is sea level. The voice towards the end is the caretaker of a small stone which marks the geographic center of the US (1000 feet). The sounds used are digitally modified recordings from all the altitudes. Commissioned by New American Radio.
